We've recently wrapped up an A Fresh Graphic Rebrand for Hudson Park Elementary (HPE) and Rainier Pre-K School (RPS), focusing on crafting a new logo and comprehensive brand identity.

The Design Process

When we started, we knew we wanted to honor the school's history. We delved into the archives, pulling inspiration from the original mascot design. Our aim was to create something that felt both nostalgic and fresh, capturing the essence of the "Cougar" for HPE and the "Cub" for RPS. Here's how we fleshed out the new brand.

HPE OLD LOGO
The previous Hudson Park logo

Logo Suite: We designed an extensive suite of logos for both schools. This included the main logo, a header version for stationary or digital headers, a text logo for simplicity, a wordmark for versatility, and an icon for use in smaller spaces or digital applications. Each element was carefully crafted to ensure consistency across all mediums.

Additional Assets: Beyond the logos, we created a range of additional elements to enhance the branding. These included trailing footprints for a dynamic feel, detailed mascot faces for character, text designs that incorporated school slogans, and the school's motto to instill pride.

Physical Presence: To make the new identity tangible, we designed an 8x16 foot outdoor welcome sign, ensuring that the school's new look would make an immediate impression on everyone who enters. We also developed a unique repeating pattern ideal for student feature photo backdrops, adding a visual flair to school events.

The Perfect Timing

The stars aligned with this project. Shortly after we delivered the final designs, the school decided to refurbish their gym floor. This provided the perfect opportunity to integrate our newly designed logo into the school's physical environment - it was painted and sealed onto the gym floor, ensuring the new brand would be a lasting part of the school's legacy.

A Personal Touch

This project was particularly meaningful for us at Lost Locals Media because it was a return to my roots. Seeing my designs come to life in the very halls I once walked as a student was not just a professional accomplishment but a personal one. It's one thing to see your art in the world; it's another to see it embraced by the community that shaped you.
